5 Reasons To Wear A Hat

For many years women wore hats as a basic part of accessorizing their outfits. It was as fundamental as wearing the correct shoes. A hat can make an outfit stand out. It can be a practical addition or a whimsical flair. It can make your day or make your attitude! Below I list 5 reasons to wear a hat.

A hat is obviously a great way to cover up. It may be a rain hat covering your hair and protecting it from becoming frizzy and uncontrollable. It may be a ball cap covering your eyes from the sun. It may just be a quick toss on to hide a really bad hair cut. This hat saves the day! You are glad to have it on and others who see it know exactly why it is there sitting atop your head, therefore there are no explanations required.

This is the hat you wear to church on a Sunday morning. Women used to wear hats to show respect and submission to their husband and to the Lord. Men wore a hat as a symbol of respect and formal dress. For a man, it is always removed when going indoors and firmly placed back the second his foot touches the ground outdoors. It is the dress hat on the head of a cleaned up cowboy. It is the top of a military uniform that commands respect. It brings a bow, or curtsey, or a quick, crisp salute.

This is the hat you wear when you KNOW you are going to cross paths with the ex-husband's new wife, the former boss, or the heifer who stole your boyfriend! It is the kick of an outfit. It says, "I KNOW who I am, I like who I am, and I am glad I am not you!" This hat virtually sings "Hey! Look at me!" When you wear this hat, you absolutely reek of confidence. Sometimes that is exactly what we need in the face of these people who have put us at our rock bottom at one time in our life. It gives us the ability to look them in the eye and smile. It helps us to move on. It gives us attitude !

This hat is the basis for an outfit. It is the reason you bought those boots and that jean jacket. It is the entire reason you spent $60 on a pair of jeggings when, last year, you made fun of jeggings with your friends. It is the reason you have that uncomfortable belt in the drawer and you actually wear it! This hat is the "I feel special" hat. The "I am stylin' in this hat" hat. It is the one you will wear for that first date and never question whether it is a good choice or not. You feel good in this hat, safe, comfortable and happy in this hat. It is always a good choice and you have developed, planned, yes, you have built a particular outfit that sets it off. Wear it and enjoy!

Last and definitely not least is the most important hat of all. This hat is the one that may save you from injury. It could mean the difference between life and death. These hats come in many styles, colors and sizes. It is important to wear these hats. They can be a fashion statement in color or style. Some have accessories to make them more outstanding. It is the helmet that protects your brain and keeps you alive. Safety can be fun.
